Though the dream sprang from Dipak Pangeni’s two decades of Himalayan guiding—marked by nightly sing-alongs of “Resham Firiri” and heartfelt compassion for Nepal’s poorest villagers—it was Catherine Resstelo’s unwavering belief in his vision that turned goodwill into a formal charity. A longtime friend and fellow Francophile, Catherine was moved by Dipak’s stories of hardship and hope. She took the initiative to secure official registration in Annecy, tapped her network of French supporters, and provided the initial seed funding. Through her stewardship, ten French donors rallied to sponsor ten underprivileged children at Nawajagaran Secondary School—laying the organizational and financial groundwork for everything that followed. Without Catherine’s leadership, Dipak’s grassroots efforts might have remained heartfelt gestures; thanks to her, they became Resham Firiri Nepal Sāstha—a beacon of sustainable, people-centered aid.
